§ 18-28. Permits; plans; work by licensed plumber.

  • No property owner, or occupant, shall cause or permit any connection with or tapping on a water main or do any plumbing work in connection therewith, without first obtaining a permit from the director of revenue, code enforcement, and permits before work is commenced. The application for such permit shall be on the form prescribed, stating the location of the property and the name of the licensed plumber to be employed, with full and clear description of the proposed work, signed by the owner or his authorized agent. Each application shall be accompanied by a diagram and specifications made in duplicate showing and describing clearly the proposed work and especially the proposed tapping on the water main. If the plans are approved by the mayor, the public works director and the building code enforcement officer, the director of revenue, code enforcement, and permits shall issue a written permit within two working days after the application is filed. Approved plans cannot be changed unless the change is likewise submitted and approved. Each permit will lapse by limitation and become void if the work is not commenced within ninety (90) days of its date. None but a licensed plumber shall be permitted to perform any such plumbing work.
